Day 28 – 30 Days of Knitting meme

Do you do any other crafts besides knitting? What are they, and did learning to knit come before or after learning these other crafts?

Yes! Unless you count the counted cross-stitch I did in junior high for 4-H, then knitting is the craft that started it all. I tried candle-making (wax and perfume everywhere, and ugh, most perfumes stuff up my nose and make my throat hurt), I tried beading (beads are okay still, but a jeweler I am not), I toyed with ink and rubber stamps, and I haven’t quite given up on my dream of calligraphy, but then I discovered knitting. I have since tried my hand at crochet:

crochet2(Pattern: Granny-Square Afghan with wide knitted border)

and some spinning

hothouseyarnwhich I apparently don’t photograph much.

I’ve dabbled in embroidery, making some hankies for my kids

and I’m experimenting with Blackwork and counted cross-stitch again.

In fact, I’m signed up this term for the Harry Potter Knit/Crochet House Cup, in Ravenclaw. I’m aiming to sit for a Defense Against the Dark Arts O.W.L., and spin my Quidditch plays. So I might be scarce around here for a while.

About crankyfacedknitter

We are a motley collection of cats, cranks, nerds, geeks, hobbyists, humorists, writers, caffeine addicts and one knitter. We have many offspring, but admittedly, most of them are imaginary.
