Do you knit gifts for friends and family for the holidays or birthdays?
I have, in the past. When I first got the hang of knitting, I tried to knit something for everyone I knew, that Christmas. It was a bad idea. I’ve tried that several times now, thinking it will save money (especially if I use yarn I already have, and free patterns), but that still backfires. I’m so stressed about finishing everything by Christmas that I don’t enjoy the season at all, and I lose my knitting mojo after the holidays, sometimes for months.
These days, I either choose one or two people to make a quick hat for (generally on my husband’s side, as they are all possessed of giant heads that won’t fit most one-size-fits-all hats), or I just make my mother-in-law a pair of socks and call it a day. She likes the thicker, warmer socks, seeing as she spends much of the Christmas season on her feet in the cold, and she hand-washes them and takes care of them. Knit-worthy. (It helps that we have feet the same size.)
